On the occasion of the Unity Day, the German Ambassador to Slovenia, H.E. Klaus Riedel hosted a reception attended by the Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, the Minister for Slovenians Abroad Peter Česnik, and other guests from Slovenian political, economic, social and cultural spheres, and the international community in Ljubljana. The Ambassador confirmed the relations between Germany and Slovenia are excellent, adding that his mission was to improve them even further.
The German Unity Day is the National Day of Germany, celebrated on 3 October as a public holiday. It commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990 when the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) were unified, so that for the first time since 1945 there existed a single German nation state.
