German, Slovenian chambers of commerce strengthening ties

The Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) that has been described as an important milestone in economic cooperation.

The chambers want to help Slovenian companies find new business opportunities on the German market. “We want this cooperation to improve in future,” Gertrud Rantzen, the head of the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce, said as the agreement was signed in Ljubljana on Thursday.

GZS president Boštjan Gorjup stressed that the Slovenian economy needed to raise productivity and could learn a lot from Germany’s policies.

“For us it is particularly important to have European partners among the chambers we are cooperating with. German companies invest in many European countries, Slovenia included, which is why cooperation is very important,” said DIHK director of foreign trade Volker Treier.
