These days, governmental working groups are working on proposals to prepare a second package of intervention measures to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus epidemic. Business representatives presented their ideas and proposals on Saturday, and trade unions will present them to the Government representatives this afternoon.
Five working groups set up by the Government to assist in the preparation of the second anti-corona package will produce a proposal report by Thursday, according to the Government spokesman Jelko Kacin, on the basis of which the advisory group will draft guidelines for the package. The second package must be implemented by the end of April, Kacin says.
Representatives of various industries presented their ideas and proposals on Saturday to a governmental working group on economy and agriculture, led by the economy minister Zdravko Počivalšek. Labour minister Janez Cigler Kralj and public administration minister Boštjan Koritnik, who are the heads of the working group on issues related to work, education and social affairs, and the local self-government working group, also attended the meeting.
Today, the Government representatives will also meet with trade unions seeking active roles in the design and implementation of the measures. As emphasized in the past days by the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia and in the Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions, they want to establish a social dialogue and immediate restoration the Economic and Social Council.
Besides the companies’ representatives in an advisory group for preparation of measures led by the economist Matej Lahovnik, trade unions also want employee representatives, including employees in the public sector, the Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions stated in their press release on Sunday.
Trade unions also seek answers to the questions of who and to what extent will bear the recession burden due to the coronavirus epidemic.
