Municipalities in Triglav National Park for a change in financing and more funding

After municipalities in the Triglav National Park (TNP) can hope for a million euros to fund infrastructure projects in the park – for the first time in ten years, they are now pushing for a different regulation in this area.

Former Bohinj mayor and a current MP (SAB party) Franc Kramar and four other deputies submitted an amendment to the TNP bill to the National Assembly for additional 0.2 percent of personal income tax to be allocated to park municipalities; that is around 3.8 million. These funds would be distributed by municipalities according to the acreage and population of the park.

According to this legislative amendment, Bohinj would receive around 1.2 million euro annually. Bohinj mayor Jože Sodja says that this money would probably be invested in settlements in the park, just like the funds provided now.
