Victoria Harrison said on the occasion:
“I am very happy to be here as the new British ambassador in Slovenia. I would like to thank the President of the Republic and the staff of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their very warm welcome. I would also like to thank the great team of the British Embassy for their help with the preparation for today.
The United Kingdom and Slovenia enjoy good and broad bilateral relations, which also include the areas of security, defence and economy. They are also close partners in international organizations such as NATO and the United Nations. Besides politics and diplomacy, our friendship also encompasses the fields of science and education, culture and sport.
Above all, our country shares many values, such as equality and inclusion, which are very important to me personally.
I’m looking forward to further strengthening of our bonds, as well as living and working in this beautiful country. My guide dog Otto is just as happy to be here making history as the first guide dog to accompany the British ambassador anywhere in the world. We are looking forward to visiting and exploring different places all over Slovenia. ”
