A special act to help those affected by the new coronavirus epidemic, which is being prepared by the government, will also contain several measures for agriculture.
If farmers become ill with COVID-19 disease, they will receive a payment of 80 percent of the minimum wage, and will also be entitled to a write-off of contributions for pension and disability insurance, agriculture minister Aleksandra Pivec explained.
The government also intends to financially support agricultural holdings due to a loss of income as a result of falling prices, it is considering exempting from personal income tax, and would also help by increasing the share of Slovenian foodstuffs in the public procurement system.
The best way to help the economy is to buy domestic products, say both Pivec and the economy minister Zdravko Počivalšek.
