The government convenes a session today regarding the measures to help those affected by the new coronavirus epidemic. It will all be combined into a proposal of the so called mega bill, which the Prime Minister Janez Janša wants to be fast-tracked through the parliament this month. This means the help would include April and May, but some measures will be retroactive.
Among the most important is the state’s co-financing of contributions for the workers on standby, a help to the self-employed in the form of social contributions write-offs and payment of monthly basic income, and a special allowance for pensioners with the lowest pensions. Public services that are not provided during the crisis will not have to be paid for by households.
The government is expected to be working on this extremely extensive bill late into the night.
