During the event, pressing questions regarding economic and social cooperation in the Adriatic region were addressed and speakers reflected on regional integration and highlighted the challenges the region will face in the coming year. Special attention was given to demographic challenges and economic collaboration within the region. The event, titled Land of the Elderly or Land of Opportunity? Planning Success in Times of Polycrises and Demographic Changes, brought together experts from the public and private sectors to analyze current trends, challenges, and opportunities for regional integration in the Adriatic.

The event was intended for all those actively interested in economic, political, and financial developments in the Western Balkans region and seeking fresh perspectives on regional and societal trends.

The opening address was done by Tine Kracun, director of ISR.

The Opening speech titled: “Let’s shed light on fears” was presented by dr. Jure Stojan, partner and director of research and development, ISR

The audience was introduced to the event topic during the talk titled: Challenges of European generations between Marko Lotric, President of the National Council and Tine Kracun, director of ISR

The main focal point of the event was an interesting and engaging Round table called: Opportunity innovators moderated by Barbara Matijasic, MBA, project director, ISR with the following participants:

  • Dr. Tomaz Vuk, president of the board, Alpacem Cement
  • Alenka Mejac Krassnig, Director for Slovenia, Visa
  • Andrej Lasic, member of the board, NLB
  • Rok Capl, director, SPIRIT Slovenia, public agency
  • dr. Vida Seme Hocevar, member of the board of Triglav

At the event, ISR shed light on the challenge of the region’s competitiveness, young people who are leaving, and an aging population. Despite these challenges, the discussion showed how companies can use demographic changes as a driver of development and progress in the Adriatic region. The event brought together many decision-makers from business and politics to exchange opinions on the demographic challenges of the future. Instead of the usual discussion of problems, the dynamic discussion served up fresh ideas for the future, which will be attractive to all generations.
