University Medical Centre Ljubljana would be in great trouble if complying with the prohibition of activities imposed by construction inspectorate on Kemis, the company from Vrhnika.
As they reminded at Slovenia’s largest hospital, the Slovenian health system is currently burdened by the emergence of a new coronavirus. In such circumstances, they cannot afford to be left without a business partner dumping their waste. It is more than 20 tonnes of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per year.
Given the circumstances, finding alternative safe solutions for the storage of hazardous waste would be a major challenge and a barrier, the University Medical Centre Ljubljana wrote in a call to the competent authorities to provide possibilities for continuous, appropriate and economical waste collection.
Kemis still accepts waste despite the decision of the inspection.
