Slovenian capital hosted the largest running event of year in the region – the NLB 28th Ljubljana Marathon. With more than 20.000 runners in two days, a set of records and great reviews the NLB Ljubljana Marathon proves that it deserves the World athletics golden label.
Ethiopian Molla and Kenyan Tele were the winners of the elite category, Tele set the new women’s course record. Several Slovenian athletes reached the finish line in record times: Primož Kobe with Slovenian marathon course record, Jakob Medved and Liza Šajn with national record in U21 on the 21 k course and Vid Botolin and Klara Lukan with new course records in 10k race.
13,044 runners took part in the Sunday runs, more than a third from abroad. Croatia and Serbia on the top of the list of more than 20 participating countries, followed by Italy, UK, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Spain, The Netherlands, Hungary and other.
One of the distinctive features of the NLB Ljubljana Marathon course is that it passes through the city center. So all the runners can enjoy beautiful vistas of the historic town.
Applications for the next NLB Ljubljana marathon are already open, with the event scheduled for October 18 and 19, 2025.
