Ceremonial opening of a multi-purpose hall in the Student Dormitory Ljubljana -thanks to a donation from Gorenjska Banka and MK Group
Gorenjska Banka and MK Group officially opened on November 12th a renovated hall for students in the Student Center Ljubljana – Rožna dolina, in the presence of Urban Kodrič, acting director of the Directorate for Higher Education and Tomaž Pečnik, director of the Ljubljana Student House.
The multi-purpose hall, which covers 200 square meters, will become a center of creativity, knowledge and integration for the student community and social activities, namely in a student settlement where more than 3,500 students from all over Slovenia live. This renovation is the subject of a donation worth 100,000 euros, which was donated by Gorenjska Banka and MK Group as part of the regional social responsibility program “Family Support”.
“Favourable living conditions are very important for successful studies. The ministry is facing a shortage of student places, and we currently have some open investments, as well as renovations, such as this multi-purpose hall, which will contribute to higher-quality integration and cooperation of students”, said Dr. Igor Papič, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.
Tomaž Pečnik, director of the Ljubljana Student House, presented the vision of the hall as a space for collaboration: “With the generous support of Gorenjska banka and MK Group, we realized the vision of the Ljubljana Student House, which offers students modern and high-quality spaces for education, personal development and socializing. With the renovated multipurpose hall, we are improving the concept of our institution’s operation, which encourages cooperation, innovation and social connection among students.”
The general director of MK Group, Mihailo Janković, and the chairman of the board of Gorenjska banka, Mario Henjak, emphasized the importance of partnerships between companies, educational institutions, local communities and associations for the development of future talents.
“This year, we allocated a total of 350,000 euros for student dormitories in the Adria region. In Slovenia, together with Gorenjska banka, we donated 100,000 euros for a place where students will study and spend their time. In the future, we will continue investing in new generations and young talents in order to provide them with the best conditions for acquiring new skills”, said Mihailo Janković, CEO of MK Group.
“We are proud to support this project, which will provide students with a dynamic space for innovation and collaboration. Our donation is an expression of Gorenjska banka’s dedication to investing in the future of young people. We are convinced that this hall will become a key platform for the development of ideas and opportunities in our community”, emphasized Mario Henjak, Chairman of the Board of Gorenjska banka, after the successful completion of the renovation and the completion of the social responsibility program “Family Support”.
Gorenjska banka and MK Group have confirmed their dedication to improving the living space of young people. The new hall will open the door to new partnerships and the development of ideas, enriching academic life and the daily experience of students. Various events, cultural events, workshops and seminars will be organized in it, and at the same time students in the largest student settlement in Slovenia will be able to expand their horizons and develop important skills.
