In the new composition of the European Commission, Slovenian candidate for European Commissioner Marta Kos will be responsible for EU enlargement, the eastern neighborhood, and further support for Ukraine and its post-war reconstruction. The new European Commission will have 11 female and 16 male commissioners, of whom six will be executive vice-presidents (2 men and 4 women). Prime Minister Golob and Foreign Minister Fajon emphasized that the allocation of the enlargement department to Slovenia is proof of the country’s international reputation and that Slovenia is entrusted with a key department that will contribute to stability and peace in the region. The opposition believes that EU enlargement is not a strong department – neither the coalition nor the majority of various experts agree with this.
