The Ljubljana Festival started on January 17th 2025 the sale of the first seven events of the 73rd Ljubljana Festival, which, this year will take place from June 19 to September 12.

Summer is approaching, and with it the 73rd Ljubljana Festival, which will once again offer an exceptional musical experience this year.

Tickets for the first seven unforgettable events are already available.

The audience can look forward to a diverse selection of top artistic events: the grand opening with Summer Night in tribute to Janez Bončina Bench, a spectacular interpretation of Haydn’s Creation with the Spanish theatre group La Fura dels Baus, an inspiring concert evening by the Alicante ADDA Auditorium Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Josep Vicente, a multimedia experience with DJ duo RotorMotor, Edward Clug’s ballet visions, a unique evening with compositions by Rade Šerbedžija and the final ballet-music spectacle by Svetlana Zakharova and Vadim Repin.

The Ljubljana Festival thus opens the door to an unforgettable artistic summer, full of extraordinary experiences for music, dance and theatre lovers.

Summer Night – This Night Is Mine

The festival will start on 19 June at 8.45 pm on Congress Square with the event Summer Night – This Night Is Mine. The audience will enjoy the magic of unforgettable hits by Janez Bončina – Benč, accompanied by the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and Big Band, as well as numerous vocal soloists.

Joseph Haydn: The Creation, oratorium

On 30 June at 8.00 pm, you will be thrilled by the spectacular performance of Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Creation in Cankarjev Dom, produced by the Spanish theatre company La Fura dels Baus. The charismatic conductor Josep Vicent will lead the ADDA Alicante Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, with outstanding soloists Alba Fernández-Cano, Víctor Sordo, and Toni Marsol joining them on stage.

On 2 July at 8.00 pm, the ADDA Alicante Symphony Orchestra and the conductor Josep Vicent will present El Amor Brujo in Cankarjev Dom. Singer Ginesa Ortega and flamenco dancer David Romero will also perform. This musical journey from flamenco to Latin rhythms will captivate with top-tier soloists. The orchestra and conductor, who were nominated for a Grammy and Latin Grammy, are renowned for incorporating multimedia techniques and stylistic diversity.

From ”Professor Bad Trip” to techno live electronics

The Belgian ensemble Ictus will perform their award-winning composition Professor Bad Trip on 5 July at 9.00 pm at Križanke Summer Theatre. The piece blends influences of psychedelic rock and techno music. Additionally, sound artist Dominic Sambucco will present his experimental project Aganis, and the evening will conclude with the DJ duo RotorMotor, whose innovative performances on the electronic music scene promise a unique journey.

On 9 July at 9.00 pm, the ballet evening Cluster with original choreographies by Edward Clug will be held at Križanke Summer Theatre. The selected program focuses on the most profound studies of the human body and movement, while the choice of music will add a touch of intimacy and Clug’s personal expression.

Kad umre ljubav (When Love Dies)

On 20 August at 8.30 pm, Rade Šerbedžija will perform When Love Dies (Kad umre ljubav) at Križanke Summer Theatre, where he will present his most famous songs. Šerbedžija, who is also a director, poet, musician, and versatile artist, is known for his unique sense of humor, his inclusion of prose and poetry, as well as anecdotes about the life of an artist during his concerts.

Pas-de-deux for Toes and Fingers

On 21 August at 8.00 pm, Svetlana Zakharova and Vadim Repin will perform in Cankarjev Dom with a unique dance and music experience. Pas-de-deux for Toes and Fingers is the first performance created by the couple, both in their private and professional lives. The performance includes dance, music by Russian and French composers, as well as contemporary compositions, accompanied by the Ensemble Dissonance.
